Abu Dhabi Police has announced to revoke black points over minor violations against the license of all the motorists. The new initiative for the removal of black points over minor traffic violations has been launched by the Abu Dhabi Police as part of “The Year of Giving Campaign” in the UAE. Such campaigns are launched every year with different goals and objectives for the wellbeing of residents in the UAE.
In 2016, there was “The Year of Reading” Campaign and this year, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan launched The Year of Giving Campaign in the UAE. The main objectives of this campaign revolves around spreading awareness about the social responsibility among residents of the UAE and encouraging people to participate in the volunteer activities.
The relief on the black points for minor violations comes as a great news for motorists in Abu Dhabi as they can now get their license free from black points and avoid the danger of cancellation of their driving license.

Importance of the New Initiative by Abu Dhabi Police to Revoke Black Points
In the present scenario where the UAE traffic authorities are all set to implement the amended traffic rules from 1st of July 2017, the revoking of black points against the license of motorists over minor violations bears significant importance in Abu Dhabi. The traffic rules amendments will introduce some new traffic violations and fines for some existing violations will be increased. This will certainly mount pressure on motorists to drive more carefully and maintain better disciplines.
The relaxation on black points is especially beneficial for those who have 20-24 black points against their license as motorists can get their driving license cancelled if the number of black points against their license exceeds 24. Motorists will then have to renew their license and get themselves cleared from the traffic authorities otherwise they will not be allowed to drive in the UAE at all.
The timing of the revoking of black points is critical as it brings a great opportunity for motorists to get the black points against their license removed before the implementation of new traffic rules.

The Revoking of Black Points Exempted for Major Traffic Violations
Traffic authorities made it clear that black points for major traffic violations will not be revoked and motorists committing serious violations will be penalized in the same way as before. Listed below are some of the major traffic violations which motorists must avoid in order to avoid black points against their license.
- Over-speeding
- Reckless Driving
- Driving Above Speed Limits
- Drugged or Drunk Driving
- Jumping Red Signal
Motorists found guilty of any of the above-mentioned traffic violations will still be penalized with black points against their license. Director General of Central Operations Abu Dhabi Police Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri stated that the black points from minor traffic offences were removed in order to encourage motorists to be more disciplined while driving and to relieve them from the anxiety of their driving license’s cancellation. He also emphasized the importance of making timely use of this initiative to get the licenses free of black points especially those motorists who have more than 24 black points against their driving license.
Traffic authorities have been launching different initiatives for the wellbeing of motorists and to make them aware of the new traffic rules which will be implemented July 1st, 2017. Revoking black points over minor traffic violations is also part of the buildup to the implementation of new rules. It is an excellent initiative that offers a vital opportunity to motorists to get themselves free from the tension of black points before the new federal traffic rules get implemented in the UAE.
