The Ministry of Energy in the UAE has announced new fuel prices for January 2017. The new prices bring a costlier news for the UAE motorist with the latest rise in the fuel prices. The rise in fuel prices is due to the rise in global fuel prices after the agreement between oil producing countries. The agreement states that the oil producing countries will decrease the output for January 2017 to stabilize fuel prices properly.
The Increased Fuel Prices for January 2017
The fuel prices have been increased by 11 fils per liter whereas, the price for Diesel has been increased by 13 fils per liter. The Ministry of Energy announced the following changes in fuel prices:
- Super 98 will be sold at AED 1.91 per liter, for the month of December, Super 98 had the per liter price of AED 1.80.
- Special 95 will be sold at AED 1.80 per liter, for the month of December, Super 95 had the per liter price of AED 1.69.
- E-Plus will be sold at AED 1.73 per liter, for the month of December, E Plus had the per liter price of AED 1.62.
- Diesel has the fixed price of AED 1.94 per liter, for the month of December, Diesel had the per liter price of AED 1.81.
If we compare the fuel prices in the UAE from January 2016, we will notice a dramatic increase in the fuel prices. Super 98 had per liter price of AED 1.69, Special 95 had per liter price of AED 1.58, E-Plus had per liter price of AED 1.51 and Diesel had the per liter price of AED1.61.

The Impact of Opec and Non-Opec Agreement
Since the agreement between Non-Opec and Opec countries, the fuel prices recovered greatly when they decided to reduce their fuel output by 1.8 million barrels per day by January 1st. The members met again on 30th November, 2016 and decided that Opec countries will reduce production by 1.2 million barrels per day and other countries will reduce it to 558,000 barrels per day.
In UAE, the fuel prices increased for three consecutive months from September 2016 to November 2016. The prices decreased in December, but now, the prices have increased yet again due to the rise in global oil prices.
According to the announcement by the Ministry of Energy, the new prices will come into effect from 1st January, 2017.
