Successful 2nd Edition of Electronic Auction for Vanity Number Plates

The 2nd electronic auction for Vanity Number Plates was held in Sharjah from 20th November to 2nd December. The successful 2nd electronic Vanity Number Plates auction was able to rake in AED 16,483,000, which is a 49% increase than the first auction.

The 2nd Electronic Auction and Its Reach

The auction was held by Sharjah Police with the collaboration of the Emirates Auction. The event was held for almost 2 weeks in which bidders from all over the UAE participated with great enthusiasm. The bidding did not stop until 9 pm on Friday, when the bidding officially ended. Over 620 bidders participated in the electronic auction that saw over 7,000 bids on unique number plates. Apart from that, over 450,000 people viewed the auction via the Emirates Auction website and the mobile app.

The Vanity Number Plates Available At the Auction

150 vanity number plates were auctioned in the 2nd ever Electronic Auction for unique number plates. The number plates included, one number plate with single digit “2” and four number plates with two digit, which are “11”, “21”, “33” and “63.” There were more than 60 number plates with five digit numbers.

The number plates with the highest prices are:

  • The number plate with single digit “2” received the highest number of bids and was sold for AED 2,650,000.
  • The number plate with digits “11” was bought for AED 2 million.
  • The number plate “21” was sold for AED 1,115,000.
  • The number plate “33” raked in AED 1,755,000.
  • The number plate “63” recorded a price of AED 880,000.
  • The highest bid on a three digit number plate “999” was AED 901,000.

The first edition of the Electronic Auction for Vanity Number Plates was held last October with 390,000 viewers, 537 bidders and was able to rake in AED 11.015 million.

What Is Ahead For Vanity Plates Electronic Auction?

Chairman of Emirates Auction, Abdulla Matar Al Mannaei said, “The great participation we saw at the auction from the UAE and abroad indicates our success in fulfilling the auction’s goal of availing opportunities for all interested people to take part in the auction, by means of our smart apps, regardless of their geographic location.”

Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, Brigadier Saif Al Shamsi said, “The success of the second edition of the electronic auction, in accordance with goals set forth by Sharjah Police, especially those pertaining to customer’s happiness and the quality of service provided to them, proves once again our ability to work in line with the highest international standards in excellence and innovation.”

Everyone who uses Emirates Auction app will be automatically enrolled in the lucky draw for a 2017 BMW. The people who participated in the vanity plate auction will be enrolled in a draw for brand new 2016 Bentley. The draw for both new cars will be held on 17th December, 2016.
