Motorists will be facing the fine of Dh200 and 6 black points to their license for fitting the high intensity after-market xenon lights in their cars. An official said that the use of the after-market xenon lights falls under the Article No.9 of the Federal Traffic act and is a serious traffic offence. The use of xenon lights available in the car market is not an offence as these lights come with the standardized levels of brightness. On the other hand, the after-market xenon lights make viewing difficult for other motorists on the road with their high-intensity.

Official Statement about the Fine on After Market Xenon lights

The Director of Dubai Traffic Police, Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui said that the lights available in the stock are fine as they maintain the important regulatory and quality standards. But the after-market xenon lights do not maintain such standards. These lights can be extra bright and distract others on the road. This is the main reason why penalties have been announced for the after-market xenon lights. He added that the after-market lights can easily be identified by the Police.

Motorists are Unhappy with the Penalties

Motorists are found completely displeased on the penalties of Dh200 and 6 black points for using after-market xenon light. According to them, it does not fall under the law which clearly states that the fines would be enforced if a vehicle is found with multi-colors lights and the xenon lights are not multi-colored.

How does the Article No.95 Justify the New Fines

The Article No.95 in the Federal Traffic Act, interestingly, prohibits the use of multi-colored lights and not the xenon lights. But a Police officer justified this move by saying that the after-market xenon lights are in bright white color which indicates the color change from the xenon lights available in the market and that these lights also do not follow the quality standards. In this way, the fines for after-market xenon lights are highly justified.
