Motorists will get helped from the recently held Road Safety Awareness for the pedestrians in Dubai as the campaign educated numerous people successfully for the ways to avoid run-over accidents. The General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police revealed that the Pedestrian Safety Awareness Campaign has benefitted almost 7000 people. The campaign has been run to aware the masses about the important safety measures to adopt when they cross the roads and how to avoid speedy vehicles running over the pedestrians.

The Aim of the Campaign

The Director of the Traffic Department, Colonel Saif Al Mazroui told that the awareness campaign held last month, basically aimed at decreasing the number of run-over accidents. The number of run-over accidents has increased massively in recent times pushing the traffic authorities to aware people of their safety while crossing the roads.

Activities held in the Pedestrian Awareness Campaign

The interest of the common public in the pedestrian awareness campaign remained great throughout the campaign. The awareness campaign targeted public and private companies, schools and universities. There was a series of lectures delivered to the people to educate them for following causes:

  1. To board buses carefully
  2. Crossing the street actively
  3. Avoiding run over accidents by showing the people videos of such incidents
  4. Following the traffic rules for best safety
  5. Staying away from crossing roads with minimum speed limit of 80kph

Colonel Mazroui informed the public that it will be deemed against the law if the pedestrians cross a road that has a minimum speed limit of 80kpm/h and they will be charged Dh200 fine if found guilty. This move will certainly help the motorists while driving on such roads. He pushed the public to understand the importance of road safety measures to avoid putting multiple lives in danger. The Awareness campaign also focused on the bus drivers asking them to avoid stopping at busy roads f drop the passengers. The brochures for road safety in Arabic, Urdu and English were also distributed for maximum awareness.
