2016 World Car of the Year Awards have been announced at the New York International Auto Show 2016 and to the delight of Mazda Lovers, the Mazda MX-5 is declared as the winner of this award. The award of “2016 World Car of the Year” is a proof that this iconic Japan’s roadster is vibrant and young as ever. Mazda MX-5 remained the show stopper as it also won the award for “world car design of the year” at the same event. Highlights of 2016 World Car Awards
Mazda MX-5 competed with Audi A4 and Mercedes- Benz GLC for world car of the year award 2016. The initial list for this award comprised of 23 vehicles from all world leading car makers. The jury first short-listed 10 cars out of these 23 vehicles. The list was then further refined with three best vehicles i.e. Mazda MX-5, Audi A4 and Mercedes- Benz GLC. Eventually, the best car of the year award was handed over to Mazda MX-5. Among other categories, BMW 7 series won 2016 world luxury car award, Audi R8 coupe was entitled as 2016 world performance car and Toyota Mirai was declared as the best 2016 world green car.
