KIA Recalls Newly Released Sorento

Not all that glitters is gold and this has come to pass for the case of South Korean car maker KIA. The company had recently released some examples of the new model of the Sorento Sports utility vehicle to the car market. The SUV does look good and is a considerable improvement on the previous editions of the Sorento, a fact likely to elevate the car rating of the fleet from the auto manufacturer.

As required by law in the United States, any safety concerns are reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) and KIA complied accordingly. These documents tell a tale of faulty accelerator pedal in the SUVs. Apparently a capacitor on the circuit board of the accelerator assembly unit was improperly soldered and this can subsequently cause the Sorento to enter into a docile state of either Limp Home mode or Forced Idle. These modes let the car idle and therefore when acceleration may be needed, it is impossible to do so. This is likely to put the lives of car occupants in danger especially on freeways containing other speeding vehicles.

KIA advises customers to take their SUVs for expert car assessment so that the accelerator assembly unit can be changed in favor of an upgraded one at no cost to them.
