Crash Risk in 2013 Nissan Altima

The Nissan Altima did pretty well for the Japanese automobile manufacturer and the sedan was well received by the public. There have been better sedans released by the car maker from the East and many people have moved on to these. There are however those individuals who stick to what they have due to the sentiments evoked by the car history.

There is however a big looming sign that should get one trudging into the used car market  so as to free their hands of the Nissan Altima. The car has a fault that increases the probability of being involved in a crash many times over. It is for this reason that Nissan recalled a large number of the vehicles; an amount totaling to around 220,423 units of the 2013 model year.

The car valuation of the Altima is brought down greatly by the fact that it has a faulty hood latch. There is interference between the inner hood panel and the secondary latch lever and when one adds corrosion and dirt to the equation, the latch does not hold when the hood is closed. When driving, the hood can open up and swing over blocking sight of the road ahead through the front windscreen.

This is pretty dangerous when one is cruising down the highway, weaving between lanes and then sight is interrupted.
