KIA recalls multiple units due to weak gas pedals

Renowned South Korean automotive brand KIA has recalled close to 210,000 units of its hatch back; the KIA Soul. There were complaints lodged with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration citing faulty gas pedals and on closer car assessment, it was discovered that the when the gas pedal is put to the floor it can break thus causing acceleration to be difficult.

KIA diehards should rethink their fanatical attachment to the brand and engage themselves in the used car market since figures show that even parent company, Hyundai, is beleaguered with problems. Hyundai has a recall rate of 1.15 meaning that it recalls more units than it gets off its line. Though this does not point directly to long term reliability and inherent safety, it is a worrying fact.

KIA also initiated a recall for nearly 12,400 units of the Sorento model due to the fact there was a glitch in the accelerator pedal sensors. These were soldered incorrectly and can thereafter lead to a fixed idle mode making the vehicle crawl along which is a certain inconvenience both to the driver as well as other traffic on the road.

Selling used cars, of the KIA type, would be in good order right about now so as to milk this cow while it still has something to offer.
