The Abu Dhabi and Al Ain traffic patrols have an on ongoing campaign aimed at seizing all vehicles with worn-out tyres on main highways. This is a counter-measure taken to avoid tyres-related accidents like vehicles skidding off the road and cars failing to brake due to the worn out treads on the car tyres. This cautions carmakers to produce cars with tyres that don’t easily wear-out to be sold in the car market though this may raise the car price due to the improvement in quality of car tyres.

Motorists caught driving vehicles with tyres in poor condition will be fined Dh200 in addition to their cars confiscated for seven days. So far about 5176 vehicles have been held falling victim of the worn-out tyres campaign. The essence of this campaign is to educate motorists on the need to check their vehicles’ tyres regularly and when needed  change them if they have worked for a long time.

During summer, car tyres are prone to bursting due to high temperatures since they are made of rubber.  In order to avoid such risk, a driver is greatly warned against using substandard or faulty tyres on their cars. More attention should to put on the used cars sold on the market because it’s more likely to buy a used car with worn-out tyres compared to a new car. The campaign is set to raise awareness among drivers and a safety-precaution to avoid accidents on highways especially when the summer is closing in anytime from now.
