Due to the amount of money and man hours that have been invested in the making of a model of a car plus the PR that then whips the market into frenzy as they await the car, it is only natural that the manufacturer expects to reap big from massive sales. Sometimes the opposite happens and more is spent on recalls and fixing defects.

The Chevrolet HHR has been recalled over 5 times between 2009 and 2011. The cited areas that were the gist of the recall were the ignition switch, power steering, air bags and the powertrain. All these were found to harbor one defect or the other and thus considered unsafe for driving.

Such a number of defects surely only means you have to offload that HHR before its resale value is close to nought.
