5 People Died as a Result of an Air Bag Problem in Honda Accord

Major airbag problems from driver’s side or passenger’s side, or both have been witnessed by 10 different automakers and around 8 million vehicle has been recalled to be replaced.

The air bags are made by one of the major parts supplier “Takata”, they were installed in cars models stating from year 2002 all the way to 2008. Some of these air bags could literally explode, leading to major injuries or even killing passengers. If the car crashes the air bag housing will rupture leading to metal shards from the air bag to shatter through the passenger cabin, which is a potential disaster outcome from a device that is installed to save lives!.

On January, a minor-two- car accidents in Texas. USA lead to the death of the driver not because of the intensity of the crash but rather because the airbag inflator exploded in his face. This is the 5th person to die  driving  a 2002 Honda Accord. This driver  bought the Accord, used it for less than a year, and probably has never received the recall notice!.

Though  Accord had been recalled to replace the driver’s side airbag inflator in 2011, Honda has admitted that the recall work was never done. Consumer Reports urges all car owners to respond immediately to safety defect recalls. In December, the Japanese automaker , Honda, stated that it will comply with NHTSA and recall its vehicles nationally. This brings the number of affected Honda vehicles to around 5.4 million. Hence it might be a good time to sell your car now.
