Luxury cars get stuck in the new crash tests

Last year, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration “NHTSA” made more stringent measures in the crash tests which made it very difficult for any car to get a perfect rating of five stars in this test. This year, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration “NHTSA” made the same thing where the primary results have showed that many of the known luxury cars are weak in this regard. Only three cars out of eleven cars managed to get what can be considered a success during the “front crash test with a simple overlap” which was adopted newly by the institute.

Each of “Acura TL” and “Volvo S60” sedan cars was able to get a “good” rating in the test that has been applied recently by the institution while the “Infiniti G” car was able to get “acceptable” grades. The luxury sedan cars such as “Acura TSX”, “BMW series 3”, Lincoln MKZ and Volkswagen CC merely achieved “marginal” results while many other cars such as “Mercedes-Benz Class C”, “Lexus ES 250”, “Audi A4” and Lexus ES 350” completely failed in this test where they were able to get “weak” results.

There are no doubt that manufacturing safer cars and the imposition of more stringent laws regarding the use of seat belt or driving under the influence of alcohol may have contributed to a reduction in the traffic deaths by about 25 percent from 2005 to 2009 according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration “NHTSA”. The institution said that the number of drivers who own modern cars that do not exceed 3 years old and who were exposed to deadly frontal crashes has dropped by 55 percent since 2011. For the first time since the collection of such information, there are no longer crashes and deaths among the top ten causes of death in the United States where these causes ranked in the 11th position. Nevertheless, about 33 thousand people lost their lives in car accidents in 2010 where this was the most recent year that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration “NHTSA” owns complete information about this subject.

It is worth mentioning that the Insurance National Highway Traffic Safety Administration “NHTSA” is a union for the insurance companies and the critics confirmed that its experiments are conducted extensively in this area, in particular to reduce the financial claims caused by accidents and injuries.
