This mythical and rare Ferrari Daytona does not have an official name. However, thanks to the triumph of the model at the 24 Hours of Daytona, the public began to call it that. The motor is located in front of the car and it is a huge V12 4.4 liter of 352 horsepower. The initials stand for Gran Tourism GTB Berlineta. The bolide is a work of Pininfarina and 1,406 units, of which 1,284 were GTB, were built – with closed bodywork – and there were still 122 GTS (Gran Turismo Spider) convertible. Its production lasted six years and the model is also one of the most sought after and quoted today. His fame was built with the help of the participation of the car in Miami Vice series in the 80s. However, the bolide piloted by Detective Sonny Crockett was just a replica.

 

Ferrari 288 GTO (1984-1986)

It is more a model approved for competition. The 288 GTO was designed to compete in the FIA Group B, where manufacturers were invited to create spectacular and powerful models, in which the skill and bravery of the pilots would be tested. The bolide has a central door 2.8-liter V8 engine. Trying to decipher the name, the most logical thing would be 2 and 8 refer to the size of the propellant, while the latter 8 must indicate the number of cylinders. 272 units of the model were manufactured between 1984 and 86. The power of this machine created by Studio Pininfarina was awesome. Two huge turbos allowed the 288 perfectly develop its 400 hp and reached a top speed of 305 km / h. The FIA Group B was canceled due to the large number of fatal accidents with these cars so potent.

 

Ferrari F40 (1987-1992)

This is undoubtedly the father of so-called supercars. It is “only” the last car designed by Enzo Ferrari, and therefore the “Commendatory ” decided to create a street car out of the box. The F40 was designed for the Italian manufacturer returned to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Developed earlier in the season when cars started using aerospace materials, its body was made ​​of carbon, Kevlar, Nomex fiber and aluminum. The V8 engine was inherited from the 288 GTO and was also placed in the central part. However, power was much greater, thanks to the turbo and advances in electronic fuel injection, and the fireball was capable of producing 478 hp. As weighed just 1100 kg, the maximum speed was stunning for its time: 325 km / h without any electronic assistance. 1,315 units were produced at the factory in Maranello. Its initial price was $ 400,000 Ferrari and imposed the requirement of being a customer previously selected in order to acquire it.
