BMW 5 Series is well-known for its appreciable style, luxury and performance. The company has now revealed the new 2018 BMW 5 Series and it is certainly a class apart. While keeping the elegance and luxury in mind, the new 2018 BMW 5 Series comes with a sporty performance. The New BMW 5 Series at a Glance

This is a premium size sedan which reminds us of the 3 series, for example, the design of the headlamps is very similar to the 3 Series. However, the 2018 version provides lesser drag and lift, air curtains are added all over the body and the newly designed and debuted 2018 BMW 5 Series weighs 62 kg less, even though its dimensions are larger and bolder.

Engine, Horsepower and Speed

There will be two trim levels of the new BMW 5 Series, a Luxury Sedan and a Sporty Sedan. With time, BMW will also add M550i and a hybrid vehicle to this series as well. Right now, the engine comes with 2 options. In the 530i, it gives a turbocharged inline 4, 2.0-liter engine whereas, the 540i has a turbocharged inline 6, 3.0-liter engine.

These engines are named BMW Twin Power Turbo and because of this, the 5 Series sedans will feature 8-speed automatic transmission. Also to be noted, gear shifting with navigation assistance feature of the BMW 7 Series has been added to the new 5 Series.

This debuted 2018 5 Series will have a 445 horsepower. The sedan can go from 0 to 60 in just 4.3 seconds. You will have the option between a four wheels steer system and xDrive all-wheel drive.

The Interior Updates

The 5 Series interior was given a thorough update. This time around, the 5 series will feature hand gesture supported iDrive 6.0 infotainment system, voice control, full color heads-up display, adaptive LED headlights and more. The new cabin will also have the option of a 600W Harman Kardon sound system with 16 speakers. Also, the new seats have a massaging system, but this feature is optional and will not be present in the base model.

Safety Features

Apart from the basic safety features, a lane departure warning system is also present that will lightly shake the steering wheel if you depart from your lane. Other safety features include Dynamic Traction control, the Active Cruise Control features, a Stop and Go function, Break activation function, Active Blind Spot detection and more.

Release Date of the New BMW 5 Series in the UAE

Although the new 5 Series is set to hit the European markets in February 2017 as the new 2017 BMW 5 Series, it is expected that the new 5 Series will be released in the GCC and the UAE market as the 2018 model with a possible release date of sometime in summer of 2017.
