The crackdown on reckless drivers continues in Ras Al Khaimah as the RAK Police hands over fines to 4,769 drivers in a matter of seven days. The RAK Police is adopting a no-tolerance policy against irresponsible driving behaviors of motorists and that has resulted in issuing fines to a number of drivers. Last week, the RAK Police issued 31 fines and impounded 8 cars in just one day. The move to chase down reckless motorists is part of the new traffic campaign of RAK Police which involves more visibility of Police on roads to deliver immediate fines and other penalties to motorists found guilty of traffic violations.

Violations for which Fines were issued
There are certain traffic violations which have been repeatedly committed by motorists all over the UAE. The count of road fatalities in the UAE has risen due to dangerous nature of these violations. This is why the RAK Police has embraced the policy to issue tickets to reckless drivers on the spot whenever a violation is recorded.

These are all serious violations having dangerous impact on lives of all commuters on the road. The proactive approach of RAK Police in their new campaign is expected to play a significant part in controlling the escalating number of traffic violations.
Crackdown against Negligent Drivers
The traffic rules and regulations in the UAE were first toughened in 2008 after which new fines and black points were introduced. Motorists, after the amendments made to the rules, could be issued a maximum of 24 black points after which their driving license would get cancelled. The recent campaign in RAK to nab down careless drivers is part of consistent efforts of the Ras Al Khaimah Police to reduce the number of road accidents, road deaths and ultimately improve flow of traffic in the RAK.
