The latest statistics show that 31 people died on the roads of the emirate in the first nine months of the year compared to 46 in the same period last year.
The emirate of Ras Al Khaimah has seen a drop of 32 per cent in the deaths reported due to traffic accidents this year so far as compared to the same period last year.
Recent official traffic statistics show that 31 people of different nationalities died on the roads of the emirate in the first nine months of the year.
Brigadier Mohammed Al Nubi, Deputy Chief Commandant of the RAK Police on Thursday said 218 traffic accidents were recorded between January 1 and September 30.
“These led to the deaths of 31 people as compared to 46 over the first three quarters of the year in 2012; a decrease of 32 per cent.”
While no one died in September this year, three traffic accident deaths were recorded in the same period last year.
“However, numerous serious, moderate and minor injuries were reported until Q3 this year.”
Brigadier Al Nubi said the RAK Police spares no effort to observe the strategy of the Interior Ministry to ensure and boost security and safety on the roads of the country.
“The zero deaths reported in September this year is the fruit of hard work from all the departments concerned, as well as the regular awareness campaigns launched across the emirate,” he said.
Meanwhile, a police patrol has seized 55 LPG cylinders of a general trading company in Meneiy city in the southern region of the emirate.
An Asian driver was transporting the cylinders in a pick-up car in violation of the law, and without being licensed for the same, and purposely ignoring due safety procedures. The driver and pick-up with the cylinders have been referred to the bodies concerned for legal action.
