The 2018 Aston Martin Vantage is part of the “Century Plan” of the brand in which the British brand envisions to launch 7 new standalone models (one model after every 9 months) till 2021. The 2018 DB11 was the first model according to the plan, the 2018 Vantage is the second and Aston Martin is planning to release a new Vanquish, DBX, a New Mid-engine Supercar, Lagonda 1 and Lagonda 2 in the coming years in this exact order.
The 2018 Aston Martin Vantage is now wider and longer than before while still maintaining the aggressive Aston Martin look. The interior has been designed to be sportier and more luxurious with latest technological features that make this sports coupe one of the best in the segment.
Here is a review of the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage as we take a closer look at its design, performance and safety features.
Design of the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage
The design of the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage has received multiple aerodynamic refinements and extensive design updates. The exterior has a reshaped front fascia and a more prominent lower front grille, which add to the stylish look of the coupe. The interior has been designed to be spacious with better luxury features to enhance the ride quality and experience for its occupants.
Exterior
The exterior of the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage is exceptionally sporty and aggressive, thanks to the many new aerodynamic features that have been added to the coupe to enhance its appearance as well as performance. The all-new Vantage is built on the shortened aluminum spaceframe that makes for a shorter overhang, wider rear end and broader stance.
The coupe has a very proportionate exterior to make the vehicle even more attractive to the sports car enthusiasts. At the front of the vehicle is a long hoodline with the lowest nose ever designed by Aston Martin. This new design element gives the all-new Aston Martin Vantage a sportier and an aerodynamic appearance that looks exceptionally good on this coupe.
Aston Martin is calling the new Vantage the “Archetypal Hunter” to emphasize on its athleticism and the impression of raw power it generates with just its looks. The clamshell bonnet at the front has been added for better aerodynamics while the front bumper has been redesigned to be more angular to blend in with the rest of the design.
The large titanium mesh grille has retained its style and size, however, it is now placed a little lower on the bumper and is surrounded by the three-dimensional S curve, which draws the attention of onlookers. The grille is flanked by the new ultra-slim LED headlights that are now positioned more towards the sides for a homogenous look.
The muscular clamshell hood adds to the aerodynamics of the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage, however, one of the biggest aerodynamic additions are the traditional side strakes that have been reinvented for a more dynamic exterior to reduce the drag force.
For the first time ever, Aston Martin has designed a vehicle’s underside to direct the airflow from the front splitter to the rear diffuser so that the vehicle can have better downforce for enhanced grip and stability. The 2018 Vantage is fitted with the signature 20-inch Vantage “Y” spoke wheels to further improve the agile stance of the coupe.
The rear spoiler has been redesigned to have an up-turned flick to offer a significant amount of downforce at high speeds. The ultra-thin taillights now stretch across full-width of the tailgate and accentuate the rear spoiler to make a seamlessly sporty and modern-day coupe look.
