Although the ink from the “New 585 HP S63 AMG Launched” headlines is still a bit wet, and an even more powerful S65 AMG is on the way in any of the following weeks, there is a small niche among people who want a true “sledgehammer” S-Class which always desire a tad more power and exclusivity from their luxo-barge.
This why tuning companies like Brabus exist, and so it happens that the specialists from Bottrop have just released a complete tuning package for the W222 Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
The tuning solutions for the model start with a somewhat understated aerodynamic package made from PUR plastics and carbon fiber that offers better looks and better aero performance at the highly illegal speeds the tuned car can achieve. Since it was developed in the wind tunnel, we can rest assured it won’t make the car leave the Earth’s atmosphere because of negative lift at 300 km/h (186 mph).
Those aforementioned demanding customers can also opt for a selection of 19, 20 or 21-inch Monoblock light-alloy wheels that can be engulfed in tires from Pirelli, Continental or the traditional Brabus partner, Yokohama.
Since “all show and no go” isn’t an idiom usually associated with the guys from Brabus, there is also a choice of three tire-shreddingly-powerful engines. The B50S is a plug-and-play chipped version of the S500, which, after getting the Brabus treatment increases its total output from 455 HP 520 HP, while peak torque is increased to 820 Nm (604 lb/ft).
The B63 is a more menacing version of the recently launched S63 AMG, and by menacing we mean Brabus increases its total output from 585 HP to 650 HP, while the torque figures climb to the nice, round number of 1000 Nm (737 lb/ft), available on tap from 2250 to 3750 rpm.
The insanity of car assessment doesn’t stop there, so, until Brabus engineers get their hands on the yet to be launched S65 AMG, the B63S is the most powerful tuned S-Class available from the Bottrop institute of go-fast technology. No less than 730 horsepower and an electronically-limited torque of 1065 Nm (785 lb/ft) – available consistently from 1750 to 5000 rpm – can be apparently squeezed from the S63’s twin-turbo V8.
The B63S is can easily achieve an electronically limited top speed of 325 km/h (202 mph), a speed which probably wouldn’t be so safe without a whole range of suspension and braking systems specifically designed by Brabus for this model. One of the best interiors money can buy, including the finest Mastik leather, Alcantara and unique carbon fiber trim parts are also, obviously available. The official launch of the upgrades will take place in September, and the Frankfurt Auto Show, so we can expect an even more powerful V12 conversion until then.
