2014 Honda Jazz Gets Mugen Attire

Just two weeks have passed since the 2014 Honda Jazz/Fit was revealed, and we can now have a first glance at the new vehicle fitted with the Mugen performance package.

Now, new catalogue images have textured online, offering a first look at the work of specialist Honda tuner Mugen with the new Jazz. As you’d expect, the Mugen-enhanced Jazz wears a more aggressive body-kit, with a custom grille design, larger openings in the bumpers, side skirts and new sports wheels.

Mugen is looking to build off its success in developing a supercharged Honda CR-Z hybrid by spicing up the Honda Jazz (Fit in America). And while Mugen of Japan has already released several styling accessories for the Honda Jazz, Mugen Euro is looking to increase its performance and make it a much more exciting car to drive.

In the cabin you’ll find the usual assortment of sports tweaks, including new seats, new gauges, special accents and aluminum pedals.

Mugen will offer S and RS versions in the car market. While details are still to be confirmed, it is believed enhancements will be limited to styling and handling features.

The Mugen-tweaked Jazz is expected to debut at November’s Tokyo Motor Show.

As for the regular 2014 Jazz, power is provided by a new 1.5 litre four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle engine, mated to a Sport Hybrid seven-speed dual-clutch auto with a high-output electric motor and Intelligent Power Unit, replacing the current model’s Integrated Motor Assist system.

Honda says the package is good for 100kW and 182Nm or torque, again bettering the 72kW and 167Nm figures of the current model.

Upgrades continue under the hood as well. Both versions will gain some extra horses, with the RS to be more powerful than the S model. A stiffer suspension and a few interior tweaks will further enhance the 2014 Honda Jazz/Fit.

Launch date has yet to be unveiled, but the Mugen versions should become available by the end of the year in Japan.
