2014 Chevrolet Corvette stingray report

Chevrolet is considered the biggest global launch of the year by bringing back an all new seventh generation Corvette since 2007.

As a standard model, it is the most powerful to date. The 6.2L V8 machine surges 624 Nm of torque and 455 horses. 0-100 km acceleration is 3.8 seconds, with an impressive cornering grip of 1.03g. There are two transmission options, a brand new 7 speed manual transmission and a 6 speed paddle shift automatic.

Exterior Styling

Aggressive emotional styling coupled with lightweight materials make this the most aerodynamically efficient car. The grille and hood vents are restyled for improved airflow and steering response. The exterior is an all new aluminum frame with a carbon fiber hood and replaceable roof panel. This essentially makes the car over 50% more rigid and 45 kg lighter compared to its predecessor. New lights include daytime LED in the front and indirect LED in the taillamps.

Performance Enhancements

The new manual transmission features Active Rev Matching that will anticipate gear changes and match the engine speed for that perfect shift. Purists will cringe but this does reduce the manual labor on track days. You get five Drive Modes, including one exclusively for Track. There is also one for Snow should you decide to drive off to Jordan mountain ranges! Fuel saving technologies have also been incorporated such as Active Fuel Management system, continuously variable valve timing and an advanced combustion system.

Interior Redesign

Geniune carbon fiber and aluminum materials adorn the Stingray temple. New technologies include a central touch screen with gesture recognition included. You get two seat choices, including one high performance Competition version with high rigidity for track day challenges. Dual high resolution information displays are included, not to mention a micro LED display just for your climate control. Spoit is an understatement. Finally being a hatchback coupe it retains a decent luggage capacity of 425 liters for your golf bags.

Middle East Arrival

Is this the best Corvette ever produced? In some ways there are clear wins in the performance arena although the debate on technology versus control continues by driving enthusiasts, particularly on drive assist technologies such as ActiveRev. The new Stingray is expected to hit showrooms in early 2014.

The Chevrolet Corvette is a sports car by the Chevrolet division of General Motors (GM) that has been produced in seven generations.[1][2] The first model, a convertible, was designed by Harley Earl and introduced at the GM Motorama in 1953 as a concept show car. Myron Scott is credited for naming the car after the type of small, maneuverable warship called a corvette.[3] Originally built in Flint, Michigan and St. Louis, Missouri, the Corvette is currently manufactured in Bowling Green, Kentucky and is the official sports car of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

A Corvette has been used as the Indianapolis 500 pace car 12 times.
