Porsche has announced the potential modifications on the new Macan SUV engine. The modifications are mainly the four-cylinder engines. This will be the first four-pot Porsche since 1995.<\/p>\n
The engines are likely to be both petrol and diesel, and from within the Volkswagen group.<\/p>\n
Deliveries for the Macan will start in April, and at first customers will get a choice of three V6 units: a 258hp 3.0-litre diesel, a 340hp 3.0-litre petrol and the range-topping Turbo 400hp 3.6-litre petrol.<\/p>\n
The four-cylinder engines will improve on the diesel\u2019s efficiency of 159-164g\/km of CO2 and fuel economy of between 30.7 and 31.7mpg (depending on tyres).<\/p>\n
Porsche insists that the Macan is the first \u2018sports car\u2019 within its sector \u2013 so all models have the performance figures you\u2019d expect from a sports car.<\/p>\n
The diesel can accelerate from 0-62mph in 6.3 seconds (6.1 with the optional Sport Chrono package) and on to a top speed of 143mph.<\/p>\n
The petrol Macan S can reach 62mph in 5.4 seconds (5.2 with Sport Chrono package) and a top speed of 158mph \u2013 while the Turbo hits 62mph in 4.8 seconds (4.6 seconds with Sport Chrono) and maxes out at 165mph.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s no word on pricing for the four-cylinder engines \u2013 but we expect them to undercut the current \u00a343,300 starting price by several thousand pounds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
